Pathle — build the co-star chain

Pathle gives you two actors — a start and an end — and asks you to connect them through films. Each link in the chain must have genuinely co-starred with the previous actor. It's the constructive version of six degrees of separation: you don't just know the connection exists, you build it.

How to play

1. The puzzle shows your start actor and your destination actor, plus the par — the length of the shortest possible chain.
2. On Easy, Medium and Hard you pick each next link from a set of co-star options. Exactly one option gets you strictly closer to the destination; wrong picks stay on the board (greyed out) and cost a guess.
3. On Expert you type any co-star freely, and every valid pick moves you there — including backwards. It's a walk through the graph, and wrong turns cost distance, not just guesses.
4. Reach someone who shared a film with the destination actor and the chain completes.

Hints

Stuck on a step? The hint button names a notable film of the actor you're looking for — work out which option was in it. A second hint names the film they share with your current chain-end, which is close to a giveaway. Hints are counted in your shareable result, so clean solves earn bragging rights.

Tips

Think in hubs: ensemble films, franchises and prolific character actors are the highways of the co-star graph. If the destination is a modern star, route through big recent ensembles; if they're classic Hollywood, you'll need a bridge actor whose career spanned both eras. The par tells you how ambitious to be — a par-2 puzzle has a direct mutual co-star, while a par-4 needs genuine navigation.
