Flickle — six degrees of separation, daily

Flickle is a daily guessing game built on the famous "six degrees of separation" idea: any two actors in Hollywood are connected through a surprisingly short chain of shared films. Each day there's one mystery actor, and you have six guesses to name them.

How to play

1. Type any actor's name and pick them from the suggestions.
2. If they're not the answer, Flickle tells you the number of steps between your guess and the mystery actor — one step means they starred in a film together, two steps means they share a co-star, and so on.
3. You also get a clue film: a movie your guessed actor appeared in that starts a shortest path toward the answer. Follow the cast of the clue film to close in.
4. Reach the mystery actor within six guesses and you keep your streak alive.

Difficulty, hints and modes

Four difficulty tiers change how much help the in-game hint gives you: the hint surfaces billed co-stars from your clue film, with Easy showing more of the cast than Expert. Every difficulty is its own daily puzzle, so finishing one never spoils another. Beyond the daily there's Free Play — unlimited random puzzles — and Eras, which restricts both the mystery actor and the connecting films to a single decade. Guessing your way through the 1970s is a very different skill from the 2010s.

Tips

Start with prolific, well-connected actors — a Samuel L. Jackson or a Kevin Bacon guess usually lands within two or three steps and gives you a useful clue film. Pay attention to the clue film's whole cast, not just its lead: the path often runs through a supporting player. And remember the step count uses top-billed cast only, so bit-part appearances don't create connections.
